How It Works, Fees & Availability

Getting Started

Starting therapy can feel overwhelming at first, but the process is straightforward and designed to help you feel at ease. Here’s what you can expect:

Step 1: Get in Touch

The first step is to get in touch. You can send a short email, WhatsApp message, or make a quick call to let me know you are interested in counselling. You do not need to share your whole story right now. Just introduce yourself and mention that you would like to set up an introductory consultation.

Step 2: Free Introductory Call

Once you get in touch, we’ll set up a free 20-minute introductory call. You can choose whether you’d like to talk by phone or video.

This consultation is relaxed and pressure-free. It is simply an opportunity for you to:

  • Tell me a little about what has been going on in your life.

  • Ask any questions you have about therapy or how I work.

  • Find out if working together feels right for you.

This is also a chance for me to get to know your needs and talk about things like fees, scheduling, and how we could work together.

You are not required to continue after our call. It’s just a way to see if working together feels right for you.

Step 3: First Session

If we both agree it’s a good fit, we’ll set up your first full counselling session. Each session is 60 minutes and can take place online by video call or over the phone, whichever works best for you.

In our first session together, we will:

  • Take some time to talk more about what has brought you to therapy.

  • Discuss what you are hoping to get out of our work together.

  • Talk about how we will work together and what you can expect from our sessions.

Step 4: Ongoing Therapy

After your first session, we typically meet once a week for 60 minutes. How often and how long we meet can change based on what you need and want to work on.

Some people come for short-term help with a specific issue, while others prefer longer-term therapy to look at deeper patterns. There is no set commitment. We will check in on your progress together, and you can pause or stop therapy whenever you feel ready.

Session Details

Sessions take place online, either by video call or by phone, depending on what you prefer.

If you choose a video session, you can pick from a few different platforms:

  • Microsoft Teams,

  • Google Meet,

  • or WhatsApp video call.

For phone sessions, I will call you at the number you give me or use WhatsApp voice call.

All sessions are private and secure. I will send you a link or call you at our scheduled time, so you can join from home in comfort and privacy.

Session Frequency

You can book sessions weekly, every two weeks, or monthly. We’ll talk together about what works best for you. Consistency can help, but I know life can be unpredictable, so we can always make changes if needed.

Booking Sessions

If you want to book a session, you can reach me by email or phone. You can set up sessions one week at a time, or book several appointments in advance if that works better for you.

Appointments are given on a first-come, first-served basis. If you book early, you have a better chance of getting the time you want.

Fees & Payment

Session Fees

I charge £40 for each 60-minute session.

If you are on a low income, a student, or have OAP status, I can offer a reduced rate. Please mention this during our first meeting so we can agree on a rate that works for you. You will need to provide proof, like a student ID, benefit statement, or pension document.

We will talk about fees together during our first meeting, and I will always be open and respectful in these conversations. My main goal is to keep therapy accessible while making sure my practice can continue.

Payment Method

Payment is made by bank transfer. I’ll share my bank details and payment terms once we’ve agreed to work together.

If it’s easier for you, you can pay for several sessions in advance. Just let me know what works best.

Cancellation Policy

I know that things can come up unexpectedly, and you might need to cancel or reschedule a session.

If you need to cancel:

  • If you can, please let me know at least 24 hours in advance.

  • If it works for you, I’d like to reschedule for another time that week, as long as we can find a time that suits us both.

Late cancellations or missed sessions:

  • If you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice or miss a session, I may need to charge the full fee.

  • I understand that emergencies can happen, and I’ll always do my best to be flexible and understanding in these situations.
